Story
During our 2018 visit to Colombia we participated in the Land of Diversity Auction hosted by the Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros – an open competition to all Colombian producers, showcasing the country’s best and culminates in an intense auction. Coffees are screened by national juries, then international juries.
Peter participated on the cupping panel. While impressed by the overall quality of coffees, Carlos’s coffee was particularly memorable. We snatched it up and this coffee was awarded “Best Large Lot”.
The farm is located near the equator high in the Andes, providing ideal seasonal weather for coffee production. Carlos and Caterine collaborate with CENICAFE, Colombia’s coffee research institute in areas of soil analysis and planting systems. A chemist by trade, Caterine controls post-harvest quality. Cherries are hand-picked, and brought to the processing station where they are weighted, floated and depulped. Committed to the environment, the farm uses BECOSLUB equipment to save 90% of water.
We are excited to present this high quality Auction Lot, a product of attention to detail, and responsible production.
